slackware 9.1 root disk problem

Hi,

I have tried to install slackware on my old pc, but have got problems with creatind the rootdisk under dos. The bootdisk could be created with
Code:
RAWRITE bare.i a:
This works perfectly, but as i tried to create the rootdisk i realized that color.gz had 0 kb and there hasnt been anything on the root disk after
Code:
RAWRITE color.gz a:
- so i have downloaded a complete color.gz file from the internet (~3MB) and replaced the 0 KB file with the new one. But there is still a problem.
Code:
RAWRITE color.gz a:
Number of sections per track for this disk is 18
Writing image to A:. Press ^C to abort.
Controller has failedector: 1
i have downloaded the rootdisks folder several times from several sites and i had always the same error..

Im thankful for all answeres

Hi,

Because of this ive tried to install slackware from cd. I have extracted /kernels/loadlin.zip to C:\loadlin. i also have copied a bzimage and initrd.img into that directory.

Then i did:

Code:
loadlin bzimage rw root=/dev/ram initrd=initrd.img load_ramdisk=1
following:

Code:
Loading......................................................................................
can't open image file for initrd.
what have i done wrong?
