Slackware 14.1 on a new machine eth0 is gone video slow, no sound
New machine
ASUS maximus vii Motherboard geforce 750 Ti video card. I tried the machine on centos first, but the sound was very bad and the performance was slow and choppy. eth0 worked there. ifconfig -a only shows lo lspci finds card Ethernet Controller Intel 15a1 -v shows no modules are loaded for it. modprobe e1000e, which runs the card under centos didn't help. It seems to unload after reboot. netconfig goes through the motions but the card still isn't there. In another issue I disabled the nouveau drives and installed NVIDIA drivers, but video is still slow/choppy to the point of being unwatchable. This also occurred when I was trying to run the machine under centos. Also there is no sound. It sounds like a motherboard problem. Anyone have any ideas to get around it? |
Hi,
Please provide the full output of the following command, typed as root: Code:
lspci -knn|grep -iA3 -e vga -e audio -e net |
Thanks for the assist, but I'm going to give Gentoo a try. I've managed to compile a kernel that supports everything on my system. (yay)
