SlackWare 14.0 - Lost KThesaurus - Revised

I upgraded my SlackWare 14.0, 32-bit installation using slackpkg. It changed my
  1. Calligra Office Suite from version 2.4.3 to 2.6.4
  2. kde desktop from version 4.8.5 to 4.10.5
In the process, I lost my favorite program, KThesaurus, which is part of the Calligra Office Suite. I am guessing that the newer version of Calligra Office Suite does not have KThesaurus. It is a stand alone utility, which used to show up in my application launcher as All Applications -> Office -> More Applications -> Related Words (KThesaurus).

On the Internet I found the file kthesaurus_2.4.4-3_i386.deb. Is this file compatible with SlackWare? How does one install a program file with .deb extension?

According to the file OBSOLETE.TXT, which can be found in the Calligra source package from Slackware -current (updated on 3rd Aug), kthesaurus was removed from Calligra releases >2.4:

removed plugins, why they were removed and why you might want to resurrect the
code if you are interested in working on the features these plugins used to
provide.

kthesaurus -- unmaintained since 2002

[edit] Regarding the second part of your question, there's a tool called src2pkg which can also be used to convert .deb packages into Slackware packages (it was also discussed here). However, I'm not sure if it does make sense to use a Debian binary on Slackware -current.[/edit]

[edit] I don't know if Calligra 2.4.3 (from Slackware 14.0) will build on -current - you might want to try, passing the "extragear:calligra" argument to the KDE.SlackBuild.[/edit]

Best regards,
Philip
