Slackware 12.2 have the same problem.
Slackware 12.1 ok, the HD was found under /dev/hda.

So, what is the problem? Can i install the version 12.1 and then upgrade to 13?
How did i make this upgrade?

Are you using the huge kernel on Slackware 13?

I tried with huge.s and hugesmp.s
Also tried with many combinations of noacpi, noudev, nomsi, acpi=off, hda=noprobe options but the HD is not detected.

If it helps, lspci command says that i have a Intel IDE SCH Poulsbo interface and the HD is a Hitachi sata.
The netbook is a Aspire One AO751h-1340.

Today i tryed a install with one Ubuntu 9.04 iso and it works fine.

Ismael.

Try passing the 'noapic' along with the 'noudev' at the boot of the installer.

When you installed Ubuntu how was the the device designated/recognized?

BTW, I do suggest that you stay within this thread to allow Diagnosis and solution.

Hi!

I tryed 'huge.s noapic noudev' and 'hugesmp.s noapic noudev' and nothing from HD.

In Ubuntu the device recognized was '/dev/sda'.

Antecipated thanks for helping!

Ismael.

Hi,

When you boot Slackware then provide us with the output of 'lspci -vv'. Also what does 'dmesg |grep -i hd' & 'dmesg |grep -i sd' show?

The output from 'dmesg | grep -i sd' is:

And for more data research here is the complete output from 'dmesg':

Hi!

The BIOS setup is very poor, only options to set date, time, passwords, and boot order.

Ismael.

PS.: Thanks for the tips on sending big reports...

Hi,

Your 'dmesg' shows a USB Flash drive plugged in. What happens when you remove that and attempt to boot the install media?

Hi,

The USB Flash that 'dmesg' shows was plugged in after i have booted and tryed to see if the HD was under /dev/sda or /dev/hda.
I plugged them to write the output from 'dmesg' in a archive to send to the forum!

The boot from slackware install dvd i made from a external USB DVD unit without the USB Flash plugged.

Ismael.

Hi,

Just another shot in the dark. You did check the md5sum for download and the burnt image on the dvd? Don't rely on the burner application as the verify method. Check it, via verify on the ISO with 'md5sum' and the DVD image.

As for the 'USB', I've seen the device change the way things are recognized so that is why I question the removal.

Hi,

What does 'fdisk -l' show with the USB inserted and removed. Also try 'lsusb -v' and 'lsscsi -d' and please post the output.
