SlackWare 11.0 not supported on KDE 3.5

Having installed SlackWare 11.0 I managed to get the installed KDE 3.5 windows manager to run. Attempted to configure the network settings and got a message telling me that my "Platform is not supported". The nearest one seems to be SlackWare 10.2

Is this correct or do I need a patch?

that's right. kde 3.5 was released before slack11.
however using the settings for 10.2 should not be a problem.

Found that for some reason INSTALL had not detected my old NIC, (3com 3c509c), and had not created an rc.netdevice file.
Searched in the SlackWare documentation and found some good advice on editing the rc.modules file. Modified as suggested, rebooted and now on-line.

Ref to manual page:
