slackware 10.1 can't see partition table

Sorry if this was posted before, I did search but couldn't find an answer.
My Slackware 10.1 installation can't see my partition table. When I use cfdisk it says something like its read only. Slack 10.1 setup says that there are no Linux partitions and that I should make one. I had a Slackware 10.0 installation before I formatted it, and installed Ubuntu Linux. Their installers (Ubuntu and slack 10.0) saw all partitions and I can even see my Linux partition from win xp. Drive is SATA but Slack 10.0 installation went without any problems on that drive. The only thing I didn't try is to boot partition magic and try to reformat ext3 partition, but why it can't see other partitions like swap and ntfs?

thanks for any response

Which kernel are you using?

I had no problems installing on my SATA HDD when I used sata.i (instead of bare.i) to install Slack 10.1

If you are using bare.i you probably only se your cd or dvd which you can't partition...

Kind Regards
