Slackare Install Disc 2
Hello,
I have a system with basic CD 1 Slackware installed in my system and it works perfectly. However I now want to install CD2 and see what I can use from there ( all I know is it includes KDE and QT ). I do not have internet access so I plan to install from the CD that I will burn later today with the ISO for CD2. I am guessing I will need to use PKGTOOL to do this but I am wondering if someone has comments or at least give me hints : should I use "Install Packages from some other directory" in PKGTOOL ? Should I mount the cdrom before I go in this ? will it mess with my already running installation ? Thanks!! Paulo. |
No, it won't mess. Put cd2 in your cd-drive when using working Slackware installation, mount it like # mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom, open kde directory (kde software series), run: # installpkg * (this will install all the packages in the directory, which are kde requirements) and everything will be fine. After that you can just issue startx.
