Slack+kernel2.6.3+modules don't load ? how to start integrated kernel driver?

Hi!
i'm french so sorry for my bad english
I've recently installed slackware 9.1 on my ATA 20go disk, ive uprgaded the kernel to 2.6.3 (for my SATA disk) using the kernel from kernel.org i ve untar/ungzip it in /usr/src so we have /usr/src/linux-2.6.3/ i cd to that directory, made the usual stuf (make mrproper, make, make modules_install, make install, lilo.conf, lilo).
Then i've transfered my system on the sata.
Since i'm on 2.6.3 my modules don't load (bad module format moduleexemple.ko) so ive searched a little on the net, ive installed module-init-tools-3.0.
ive recompiled alsa-driver-1.0.3 but it can't run insmod or modprobe..
Ex: modprobe snd-emu10k1 (sblive!) give
WARNING: Error inserting snd (/lib/modules/2.6.3/kernel/sound/acore/snd-hwdep.ko): Invalid module format
etc... with all part
and ive a second prob =(
ive builtin the sk98lin driver in the kernel (p4c800 delux gigabit integrated ethernet) but when i boot i can't see anyrelative information on the ethernet controller (is it probed or not?) in /var/log/messages and there is no eth0 in ifconfig...
Help me ! (at the beginning i just wanted to see a film on my sata disk lol)
Thx for your help!
...just another newbie question
it dont work for all modules (NVidia compile but dont load), same error... no inserting no probe =(
I think when i made make && make install && make modules_install it build modules for the wrong kernel (or modprobe/insmod don't work for the right kernel)

This is how I do it
---------------------------------------------
make
make modules <--- you need to build them also
make modules_install

cp ./arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot
cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.6.3
cd /boot
ln -s System.map-2.6.3 System.map

(edit lilo.conf to add the new kernel beside old one)

lilo
---------------------------------------------

The above may not reflect your exact set up, but I hope you get the drift.
