Old version of Slackware on Compaq Contura Aero 4/33C

Hey guys, I found this little old thing in my basement and decided to have some fun with it.

Proc: SL Enhanced 486SX at 33MHz
Memory: 8MB
Drive: 255.8MB
Current OS: MS-DOS 6.00
CD-ROM: None
Floppy: PCMCIA 3.5 Inch 1.44MB Drive

Anyone got an idea of how I can pull this off? I'd love to put some use to this old thing.

Well, I can't really speak for the version of Slack,
but I started off with an almost identical system.

It ran Win3 fairly well, but 95 slowed it to a crawl.
That should give you an idea of what your working with.

I'm pretty sure you'll be stuck with a 2.4 kernel, but I could be wrong.

Not much help I know, but I was passing and threw my 2 cents in.

You'd have to use an old version of zipslack for that with the lowmem kernel, but that will all co-reside with the DOS installation. There is a special way to install zipslack for lowmem machines so that you have a swap file. The normal installation floppies will not work with so little memory.

Have same unit, with 12 gb memory, 4.2 gig drive. Loaded slackware 4.0.0 from 12 floppy disks. Works, but having issues with second stage LILO.

Work in progress..
