NIC help


my network card is a SMC2662w -http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?sec=Products&pg=Product-Details&prod=268&site=c


alrite i downloaded the drivers and ran the ./setup.nl,,
i reviced the following message cp: cannot stat 'lib/modules/vnetusba-2.4.22.o': no such file or directory


I then tried to run xvent , but the got the following message

xvnet error while loading shared libraries: libforms.so.0.89: cannot open shared object file: NO such file or directory

i'm logged in as root, and using the 2.4 kerneal.. anyhelp would be much apperated

Anyone have any ideas???

DO you think if I recompiled my kernal to a higher version such at 2.6.5 or 2.6.6 it would fix it? i thought i read somewhere about 2.6.x being needed to support wireless nics

also i don't really have any idea how to even check if my usb nic card is being detected, or to set it up. I know my network uses wep and such, I was wondering how I set thoese settings, along with ip address/ gateway, etc etc
