new install wont boot, hangs at grub

Installed SW and all seemed to go well until I tried to reboot after install. It ran a few lines of code says Grub and that is it. It will not let u input anything from console. i did not make a bootdisk because I did not build system w/ floppy. As u may already know I am very new to Linux. would appreciate any help, very anxious to get away from Windblows!

didn't you use the default LILO in Slackware? It's very intuitive and it's all there within the installation process..

The first time I tried installing SW lilo would not load, I like the way Grub looks. The second time I installed SW I skipped trying to install Lilo

SW default boot loader is LILO. But i am sure you can still use grub if you so prefer. Maybe you should relook at your grub setting is ok. I personally like grub's look too, but i am not used to the way it's being set up, so i am ok with LILO still.

Did you install SW with cdrom?
If so, you don't need a bootdisk to load the system.
Just insert Disk1 in your cdrom, and reboot.
Read the install instructions carefully, and you will find how to enter the _rescue_ mode, which can help you load your SW even if there is something wrong with grub/lilo.

I looked on the cd but found nothing about rescue, still cannot get past Grub. Would really like to get this box up and running this weekend while at home. Thanks to all that have replied so far. Your help is greatly appreciated!
