Exclamation Netgear WN111 Version 1 USB Wireless Adapter Installation HOWTO.

WARNING: This HOWTO is for Version 1 only, not Version 2. I assume that installation is different. After much frustration, I was able to get my adapter working. This HOWTO will assume you have a Windows machine and have installed the driver on it.

Step 1.
Login as root

su -

Step 2.
Download and install ndiswrapper from slackbuilds:

http://slackbuilds.org/repository/12...k/ndiswrapper/

Read the documentation on the website to learn how to install it.

Step 3.
Copy the files from your windows machine. I have my windows partition mounted on my slackbox. "john" is my home directory.
Enter these commands into the console:

cp /ntfs/WINDOWS/inf/WN111/netmw245.sys /home/john/ndiswrapper/
cp /ntfs/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/MRVW245.sys /home/john/ndiswrapper/

Step 4.
Enter these commands into the console:

ndiswrapper -i netmw245.sys
ndiswrapper -l

You should see something like this:

netmw245 : driver installed
device (0846:9000) present

If not, consult google.

Step 5.
Enter these commands into the console:

pico /etc/rc.d/rc.local

Enter the following into the text file and save it:

modprobe ndiswrapper
iwconfig wlan0 essid YOURNETWORKNAME
dhcpcd wlan0

If you have a WEP password or the like, consult man iwconfig.

Step 6.
Reboot

Enjoy! Let me know if this helps anyone, I'd be glad to hear about it.
