Need help installing Slackware on my Machine
 

Hi, this will be my first time to use linux on a PC. I had an N900 before and I had so much delight in using Linux. I am interested in installing Linux SlackWare on my machine but I do not know how to do it with just one disk.

I don't know how I will make this archive into a bootable disc, and worse, how I would install SlackWare on My Rig, I want it to be as smooth as possible. I hope my venture to the next Level Linux would be fun like I had with my late N900.

Thanks and I would greatly appreciate all the support and help I could get. ( I was a bit afraid of the Floppy Disks and the partitionings, I hope I really don't need to do this, but if I have to, then I would have to find a way to make the Floppies...)

You don't install slackware current directly, first you install slackware

Then you upgrade to current (using slackpkg and configure it for example)

You can however use Alien Bob's script to create a CD/DVD from the current three.

Thanks...... I would try this first, then if I still fail, I would go to the first advise, download iso and then upgrade..... I'll keep you gys posted, probably after a few days, like on Sunday or Monday, workload is just way to heavy now.

Btw I don't know if you already know it, but Slackware current/actual version is 13.37
The ' Slackware-current ' branch means latest Slackware development

If you are unsure about how to operate that script, I also maintain a 2 GB ISO image for slackware-current (32-bit and 64-bit too). It's only 2 GB because I left all the sources out of the ISO image - it only contains the packages you are going to install.

The ISO images are re-generated automatically, every time there is an update to the ChangeLog.txt.

YMMV, but for a first Slackware installation (and for the "first time of using Linux on a PC"), I would make a stock install rather than an alternate one. I mean for a first install experience, I find it logical to go the official way

if you have a good internet connection and the slackware64 13.37 is able to configure you internet card, when the install ask where to install from select http and use the mirror you want to use to install current from.
