My first SLack install

SLack 10.1 (4 cd)
KDE 3.3.2
DSL /Liksys Wireless router (no wireless being used)

Well actually I have re-installed Multiple times and prolly will again till I can get it right.
I only have a few things I need to fix and I'll be happy, for awhile.

Local Network-I can get on the 'net but how do i set up my Local?
Dad has XP and getting ready to try Mandrake 10.1
We see each other fine in XP. (his PC is like 2 feet away)

PS2 Wheel Mouse-Sure I can do this in Xorg but which option?
Almost got my printer figured out.

thanks in advance

Okay,
LAN: I just got this working myself, crossover style. netconfig. Static IP. no gateway. Google "private IP addresses" for ranges you can use. Make sure you start with 1 and directly increment for the last quad. Change /etc/hosts for each computer, to include each computer.
Mouse: in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
Printer: Use the CUPS webmin at localhost:631

The local net problem, look to samba. This should get you going.
http://www.hclg.org/smb.html

The wheel mouse place this under input device section in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Code:
Identifier "mouse" (I think it is mouse)
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
