Kernel Panic Error after install of Slack 13

I have been attempting to install Slackware Linux 13 and have been running into an error after I reboot the first time after the install. The error is

Kernel Panic - Not Syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (8.2)

I had 12.2 installed on this machine and I was just attempting to install 13 over top. I'm sure that I am doing something stupid, but can't seem to nail down what. Any advice? Thanks.

Hello,

Did you install the generic kernel?

If so, then you may have forgotten to create an initrd.gz image file. In this case, follow instructions in file README.initrd. This file and other useful documents to help you solve any installation errors are available in the root directory of the DVD or the first installation CD.

That was it. Thanks. It was the first time that I had tried the installation with ext3.
