Kernel panic during installation
This is the error I get while slackware is installing packages:
see pic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...0_05280010.jpg What is causing it and how can I fix it? P.S. forgot to write. Slackware is 13.1 |
Possibly a bad stick of RAM. Run memtest to make sure
http://www.memtest.org/ Try booting with noapic acpi=off (one or the other, or both). Could be something else. ACPI issue, BIOS issue, bad ISO burn, ..... Some hardware details would be nice. |
Actually I managed to fix the problem.
For some reason installation caused my CPU to overheat. Lowering CPU frequency worked like a charm (I'm writing from my new Slackware 13.1 OS:) ) I had no idea that a mere installation can be that CPU intensive. Thanks for your help anyway. |
