Hello everyone, and thank-you for your help, and even more, just for reading this.
I tried installing Slackware v9.1 last night, and amoungst the bewildered looks and the many times I said to myself "I don't know what that is, I'd better install it anyways"... I finally came to the end.
The install was successfull, but rebooting was not. I think I know what the problem is... I'll save that for another post. My point is, I have to reinstall, and I was blown away by all the kernel options.
I chose to install the default one, but I'd really like a more informed opinion from hardened Linux veterans
Unless I'm mistaken, kernels are built with different pieces of hardware in mind, right? if I'm wrong,
please correct me.
Just in case, here are the specs of my WinBoxen:
AMD Athlon XP 2100+
256MB ram
100GB HD
Gigabyte motherboard (GA-7VAX)
Winfast TV 2000 XP TV-Tuner Card
If not a suggestion of which kernel to install, does anyone know where to point me in the right direction? I got lost looking around for information.
Thank-you for your time,
ElvenAssassin
