Installing Slackware 13.37 with a LVM as root

I have partioned a disk as:
sda1 - Linux Swap
sda2 - Linux ext4 mounted as /boot
sda3 - Linux LVM mounted as /

I installed Slackware and when I attemp to boot it fails.

I tried inputting boot option boot: Linux root=/dev/mapper/vgNigel-root but it seems that /dev/mapper can't be found, so I suspect a module need to be loaded.

I booted the system using a Fedora13 LiveCD, the filesystem exists and contains what one would expect.

In particular it contains lilo.conf.

Please advise if this system can be rescued/used. I can supply further details if required.

the syntax is rather
Code:
root=/dev/MYVOLUMEGROUP/root
you will probably need an initrd as well.

did you consider README_LVM.TXT?

d.s.

I would agree also. It sounds like you need to make an initrd from the tree. Look at the README.initrd file under boot and it will instruct you how to make one. Also try using a bootdisk (bzImage only) as the full boot file set will not fit onto the disk.
