Installing Slackware 12.1 with 12.0 CD

Greetings everyone. I'm going to install 12.1 on my new laptop and I wondered if it is possible to start 12.0 setup from CD and then use premounted directory with 12.1 packages as installation source? Will the result be correct 12.1 installation?

Possible? Well, maybe (with a lot of fooling around you probably don't want to attempt)... but you'd be a lot better off to boot and install from a 12.1 disk (either disk 1 of the CD-ROM set or the DVD). You can get an ISO image from a number of sources, the fastest of which would probably be osuosl.org (using, say, ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware-i...kware-12.1-iso).

Yes, this is possible.
1) boot from 12.0 CD
2) partition and / or format hard drive as needed
3) run setup
4) select target partition (the one that slack will be installed to)
5) select your source media as the location with 12.1 packages
6) install
7) run lilo
8) remove 12.0 CD and reboot
