Installing LILO

This is on a laptop.

Ok, i just used partition magic to create a new partition to install SW in. The setup seemed to go through perfectly, but I don't think LILO installed. Everytime the computer boots it just goes straight into WinXP.

When i try and get it to boot from the cd, I get back into the setup, but it won't let me select the configure option to reinstall LILO, or install it since it doesn't seem to have. No A: Drive, so i can't make a boot floppy. What can I do people? Thanks

what distro did you install? you can sometimes boot your kernel from the CD, e.g., "boot: bare.i root=/dev/hdax noinitrd ro" for slackware. not sure how to do it in other distros. i once booted from knoppix and installed lilo, but it's tricky. you have to chroot / once you're booted and point lilo to certain files. but it can be done if you read the lilo man pages for the options to solve the errors.

Yea, i'm using Slackware 10.1.

Alright i reinstalled and got LILO working. Everything working fine, thanks.
