I am trying to install Slackware 14.1 on my 2011 Macbook Pro, this one to be exact
http://support.apple.com/kb/sp619
I followed the directions on the slackware site and installed it on a usb with unetbootin. When I boot from it on my macbook. I get the message
"Welcome to GRUB"
then my options pop up. I select
"Slackware 14.1 huge.s kernel".
Then the message
"Loading huge.s kernel and installer initrd. Please wait...".
Then nothing. It just sort of hangs there for a while. I waited 10 minutes and nothing. I tried booting it up on my desktop computer which is a windows pc with UEFI and it gets past this step and prompts me for my keyboard layout.
I'm curious why it hangs on my mac. Is it a hardware problem? If so is there some special step that I need to take to get it to load correctly on a mac?
Any help would be appreciated.
