I installed slackware 11. I chose the kernel from CD (scsi) which was highlighted after selecting install from CD. When I rebooted it said "starting" but nothing happened after that. I tried re-installing with the default kernel with the same result.
By chance, if the option is present, are you booting in 32 or 64 bit? and using 'sata.i' kernel right?
The kernel list may default to the first one, I can't remember, but you want either 2.4.33.3 sata.i as the default, OR huge26.s in which case you will have to install the modules yourself.
For simplicity, use 'sata.i' and upgrade later if you want.

OK, need more info :
1 - The western digital drive, it's internal, and ATAPI, correct? Or is it USB (in a USB housing) ?
2 - Where are you installing the bootloader LILO or GRUB to during configuration?
3 - What device & partition did you install the system onto?
4 - Did you make a boot floppy? If so, does it work?
5 - Are you booting the machine in 32 or 64 bit mode??
Let's go from there.

Also, let me ask something to clarify myself here:
When you say it says "Starting" and then nothing happens, does this mean the system booted, a bunch of stuff scrolled by, and THEN says "Starting", and hangs?
OR, does the system not boot at all from the moment you select the system to boot?

Thank you very much for your help.
1. The WD Raptor is internal, ATAPI. It's SATA drive.
2. Lilo is installed to root (triple boot. grub chainloads to lilo)
3. Slackware is installed to hd0,2. The partition is sda4
4. Didn't make a boot floppy. I don't have a floppy hooked up right now.
5. I don't believe I ever chose between 32 and 64 bit mode.
I have tried this in VMWare as well and had the same result, although I didn't try the 'sata.i' kernel.

The system boots to grub, I choose Slackware, then it begins to start up. It says, "Starting up..." at the top of the screen, just like my other linux distros do, a cursor is blinking under "Starting up..." but nothing else happens.
Hummmm.. OK, I don't use GRUB, so you will need to do a bit of reading about grub on your own, as I am not familiar enough to offer reliable advice.
If the root of the installation is /dev/sda4, I would next try the following:
Load the install CD.
At the boot prompt, enter: sata.i root=/dev/sda4 noinitrd ro
And see if that boots it.
If it DOES boot, then the GRUB/LILO arrangement is the problem. If it does NOT boot, then hmmmmm.. Further investigation is needed
Awesome Glad you finally got in!
As I said, I cannot help you with the GRUB part, but if you run other linux's as you hinted at, I'm sure you'll pin down the problem.
..off to bed for me; g'night! Happy Slacking
