Cool Install Slackware on system with SuSe 9.1 & XP - How?

I really want to get to grips with Linux and I feel after reading the forums that Slackware is the way to go - I am writing this in Slax and it is much faster than SuSe 9.1 and I really like Flux!

My question is what is the best way to install Slackware on my system? Should I use Grub (SuSe)? I really need XP for some stenography software and I would like to keep SuSe for a little longer cos I have created a lot of files in there which I am going to backup before I proceed...

Please could you respond with some 'plain english' instructions - cos I haven't been using Linux that long. I have been googling for some answers to no avail - please help.

Cheers

Well if you use Grub to boot XP and Suse, then the best way to do it is to modify grub in suse to add your slackware install. you'll need to know what partition it's on. I can't help much past this, because I only use lilo. The only other advice I can give is make a bootdisk for xp, suse and slack, just in case.

Good luck!

Thanks for your quick reply sigma957. I will make all those boot disks that you mentioned.

Are there any resources on the web (or perhaps a book) that I could read on how to edit grub, partitioning my hard drive, etc (relating how to multiboot using grub and not lilo)?

I can see in YaST that there is an option to partition the hard drive and to edit the boot loader configuration. What I need is a step-by-step 'recipe' about how to do it safely!

Anyway I then plan on downloading (on bittorrent) Slackware 10 - is this a good version? Or should I download 9.1?

Cheers
