hotw to install source code
Hi,
How do I install kernel source code from a Redhat linux 7.3 cd. thanks, sha |
for what distro? slackware?
i don't know how RH is set up but for slack you should be using vanilla kernels. some distros have custom junk in them that isn't slack toolchain friendly. 'installing source' is just a matter of making a directory and: cp -rf <path-to-rh-kernel>/ <path-to-your-dir>/ then of course you'll have to compile and install the kernel. see my sig for a straightforward guide. may I ask why you want to do this? |
I want to compile and install the custom kernel which comes along with the CD . which I am not able
to find it . I have 3 installation Cd and 2 source cd . I tried to give the rpm -ihv command in the source cd , but it is not working . Any help will be grreately appreciated. |
so are you running redhat? or slackware?
|
I am running redhat . I got it . I got it as an
.rpm file from the cd. thanks, sha |
this is a slackware installation forum. I think you'll get more help by posting in the redhat forum.
hit the 'report' button and ask the moderator to move your thread to redhat forum. |
