Yah, these HP laptops can be kind of a pain sometimes.

Tip: If you ever wipe your laptops hard drive completely don't leave it that way. Had a friend wipe his hard drive, cancelled install at that point, then his HP pavilion wouldn't boot cause there were no partitions on the drive. woudln't even boot from cd! We had to PXE boot it. heh. It's cause of HP's weird bios. :-\

But yah, I don't know. You could try to download Slackware 9.0 cause it uses a different kernel version. Then you would just use a utility called swaret to upgrade to 9.1 or current, your choice. Its just like apt-get for slackware.

So what would downloading 9.0 do to help fix this exactly? (sorry, just confused by this part)

Now that I think about it, I honestly don't know what is going on with your system. Your using the exact same kernel that the install cd's use. Obviously you've already installed slackware. So how did it use the *exact* same kernel to boot off the cd's to install yet now won't boot afterwards with the same kernel? Unless you didn't choose bare.i from the install?

Try reinstalling Slackware.

I have reinstalled slackware many many times, it does not seem to help, the reason the install cd boots up is not cause of the kernal but cause it does not try to initialize usb from what i understand, when i boot off of the second cd, that initializes everything and it crashes at same spot

and incase still wondering i used bare.i

try booting off the second cd but when it comes to the boot prompt do:
'bare.i nousb'

and see if it will boot.

aye, i tried that, as well as nofirewire since a slightly newer line of hp pavilion laptops required that, both do not help they just end up with the same hang point as usual.

Really don't know what to tell you. I googled for awhile and found that people just did the nousb and nofirewire and theirs worked. So I don't know. Other then maybe 4 or 5 places your laptop isn't exactly well documented with linux.

Which is also a mistake I made cause pcmcia doesn't work for me too well on this ze4325. Now I wish I had bought a dell. But for the price that my laptop was, no pcmcia until it's supported isn't that big of a deal. It's still a badass laptop. Problem with laptops, they aren't exactly commodity hardware. So support for other OS's is limited to running.

I really wish I could help more then that. It's not really linux's fault, if hardware manufacturers would be more cooperative, things like this wouldn't happen as much. But hey. Thing's aren't going to change overnight. Oh well.

Aye, i thank you much for your help in trying to figure this out, and the time you put into it, i never did find anyone who used the nousb command on 9.1 so i am wondering if they maybe changed the command or something?

Anyone else have any ideas on this subject? would be much appreciated, =)

Once i figure out what is wrong(will work on this til it works, lol) i'll post on here how to fix it and everything and submit the fix to those linux laptop websites too

Final Decision

No linux, =(

decided to try Knoppix since i've read many places that it is the most compatable Linux distro out there, won't even start:

Quote:
The regular Radeon drivers do not work with this card under X -- there is -no- 3d acceleration, nor will there likely be for some time. 2d only works because some kind soul in the community hacked it together.
