Angry Have installed Slackware 9.0 and all i get when i boot is "GRUB"

I am almost a complete newbie to linux but i thought i would try slackware because i found SUSE and Mandrake quite slow. I have installed it using the bootable cd. Formatted the HD and installed Slackware. I chose to install LILO in the main partition i think. But when i boot the pc all i get is the word 'GRUB' and a flashing '_' If anyone knows what i have done wrong or has a solution please post.

Thanks

Welcome to LQ.

You really need to install lilo on the MBR to overwrite your existing grub install. To do so:
1) Boot with CD1 again
2) Login as root when prompted
3) Run "liloconfig"
4) Accept all of the defaults but make sure you select MBR as the destination.
5) When the liloconfig program is finished - reboot with "shutdown -r now"

I'm sure that was on the setup disks. Never mind.

Try this:
1) boot with cd1 again and login as root
2) mount your root partition - ie hda1:
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt
3) change to your real system root:
chroot /mnt
4) Install lilo:
lilo -M /dev/hda
