general instalation steps of slackware on raid/raid0
Which are the steps that must be followed in order to install slackware on a computer that has raid (raid0).
How can I make sure that the array are recognised properly and that by formating a partition or installing the packages the data won't be written on one of the hard drives resulting the corruption of the data in the raid array (happened with mandrake).
I didn't see the following post before asking the question:
"Short FAQ: Installing Slack 9.1 with Hardware Raid and SCSI CD-Rom"
I suppose that instead of raid.s I should use ataraid.i to boot and look on the
Slackware CD for the module for my raid controller and replace aicxxx.o by it.
But even if this works I can't use lilo to boot from raid0 and I think the same problem si
valid for GRUB since the BIOS can't load the kernel from 2 different hard drives.
So a solution would be to put the kernel "outside" raid0 (the root is on raid0).
In the FAQ it does not say which kind of raid it is used (I assume raid1 since there is
no problem with using lilo there).
