frozen @ login prompt


Hello, I just upgraded to Slack 10, after 9.1, But after I installed it and loaded up slack, it says
<hostname> login:

and whatever i type doesnt come up

I had slack 9.1 before and it worked fine, what can be wrong


edit. its not a user/pass problem. i think its a keyboard problem but not sure

I know the user/pass to login

does the keyboard work outside of slackware?? like, in the bios for example??

yes, to experiment, while services were loading @ startup i typed something and it showed up. I pressed numlock and capslock @ the login prompt and nothing happened. what could it be?
could it be the GDM thing for the mouse

you mean gpm, right?? i don't think so, but you can boot slackware cd2, mount your hard disk, and "chmod a-x" the gpm script so it won't start anymore...

or you could edit /etc/initab to make the box start in runlevel 1 (single user mode) and see if that works...

did you unselect anything from the "a" series during install???

nope, i just did full and didnt unselect any package..

im installing it on Virtual PC now.. and see how it goes

ill post the text of what happens if it happens in virtual pc

it was the gpm, it works fine now
