Dualboot: Slackware - Ubuntu 12.10


Greetings.

I want to install the Slackware in dualboot with the Ubuntu 12.10 already installed in my notebook.
How i'm a new user, I would like a little instruction of the veterans users of slackware.

You would need a separate linux partition for the Slackware installation. I guess you'd want to make one with a GUI tool.
Boot the computer from the Slackware installation DVD and follow the setup which is rather easy and straightforward. It might be e good idea to select the NetworkManager check box when the installer asks which services to enable. If you install the bootloader to the MBR the next time you boot you'd have both Slackware and Ubuntu in the menu. When you boot into Slackware and login as root create a new user with adduser. Login as the new user with exit and run startx.

I don't think so! Ubuntu may add other OS-es automatically to the grub bootloader menu, but Slackware will not.

Do not install lilo from Slackware. After you install Slackware, add it to Grub.

With Ubuntu, running a GRUB update might work.
