I've done a mininal install of 9.1. mc works, ppp works, there is windowmaker desktop, but can't install opera 7.23, as ./configure doesn't work, and rpm -i gives a list of 18 failed dependancies, starting with missing /bin/sh, ld-linux.so.2 then 16 libxxxx.
df -h shows only 503mb remaining on hd, so maybe not good idea to install whole packages, assuming I ever find out which ones are needed.
Is it possible to 1- find these needed dependancies on 9.1 cd?
2- advise how to move them from cd to where they should be?
did you install the rpm2tgz package??
it sounds like you left out some the of required library packages also......
this normally happens when noobs do a minimal install.........you end
up not having everything you need for Slackware to work properly!!
I remember selecting rpm during the install (menu method), so it must be in there.
Checked with the find command, and found the supposedly missing libs, I assume where they should be.
Maybe found the answer in another post:
"'I'd download, install and make a package designed for 9.1 for you but I think licq requires qt to be installed, which I lack on my desktops as I steer clear of KDE and the such."
I have opera-7.23-20031119.1-static-qt.i386-en.tar.gz and same in .rpm, so if above quote is true, it ain't gonna install nohow. Unless I install bloatware (KDE).
