DeliLinux (slack 7.1) install window manager and X issues

I'm trying to install delilinux 0.5 (based on slack 7.1) from the ISO offered at the berlilos site. I can get a full linux install of command prompt only...So i consulted DOCUMENTATION for how to install X and a window manager and all there is is this

Q: How can I setup the graphical environment (X-Window, XFree86)?

A: You need to install all from the x series. Then use XF86Setup.

So i installed all the .tgz files from /mnt/cdrom/deli/x
and when i type XF86Setup it is not considered a command...there is a file called XF86STUP.tgz and I instal that and XF86STUP is also not a command.
I am under the impression that the deveolopers of delilinux do not have perfect english so there is not a whole lot of details.

So after installing all the .tgs from the x folder i switched to /mnt/cdrom/deli/xap and installed all the window managers...i plan to use icewm. So i rebooted....and i got to a command prompt i typed icewm at the prompt and it says it cant start X or access the X server. I've tried blackbox, orborus, larswm...and all the other window manageers that come w/ deli. So i assume it is s/t wrong w/ the X setup or s/t. Do i need to start X before starting icewm? how do i start X?

pleez don' ttell me to get slackware as i only have dial up and i need deli because i plan to run this on a very old computer.

Try "xf86config", and you must be root.
