Cordless key board and mouse and installation

I am about to buy a new PC with a Logitech cordless mkeyboard and mouse.

My previous experience of installation has been with old fashioned corded standard keyboards. Are there any problems/issues that I need to be aware of?

TIA

I have Logitech MX5000 bluetooth cordless keyboard and mouse at the moment. I'm changing them to more basic versions mainly because the keyboard does "ttttthhhhiiiiiisssss kkkkiiiinnnddd" of text in KDE. Probably a setup error or something. It does that occasionally and sometimes works as it should. In commandline the keyboard worked fine. I've had no problems with the mouse. It had few errors on WinXP as well and so I'm changing them. But back to you...

Any "modern" distro will support cordless keyboard etc. out of the box. Only distro which doesn't is Debian Sarge which I couldn't install as it didn't detect my keyboard. Keep in mind to enable IrDA or Bluetooth from kernel to be able to use your keyboard and mouse. Nice to boot to new system to notice you can't use your keyboard at all All in all, a cordless input devices shouldn't be any different to use, need only be enabled to be used from kernel.

Your wireless keyboard/mouse use hub to connect to lappy usb1 or usb2 ports. Some lappys only have usb2 ports. usb1 connections involve usbhid module, whereas usb2 connections involve ohci or uhci module.ehci module is commonly used for usb mass storage devices.SW10.2 comes with usb support.
Check hub and mouse for any buttons that may need turning on.
Do LQ forum search for specific Logitech mouse model for helpful info.
