Compaq R3240us 1680x1050 version

Anyone using this laptop and also running slackware? i was wondering if i could take a look at your xorg.conf since i am having a hard drive trying to figure out how to setup it up from scratch. thanks.

i'm going through the xorg setup and i really don't know how to answer them regarding the screen refresh rate i've search everywhere and couldn't find what my screen is capable of other distro i was able to make it work by adding a modeline "1680x1050" .. .. .. .. under the modeline section. could i just create a modeline section? and also have no clue on how to get the touch pad working. i really want to give slackware a chance after reading all the greatest about it.

thanks!

I don't have an R3240us, but I do have a compaq laptop and I found this site to be pretty helpful: http://tuxmobil.org/compaq.html

They have an R3240 listed, I don't know how different that would be from the R3240us. I had a look and the say its a widescreen one, and there's a section of the xorg.conf showing the refresh rates.

I used to have an xorg.conf using modelines on slackware 10.0, so I guess you should have no problems doing that. You could try using the refresh rates above when you do xorgconfig, then edit xorg.conf and put in the modelines that you used before.

Its always fun getting linux going nicely on a laptop
