Hello. I am using vmware. I add an scsi hard disk and boot the virtual machine using an ISO of slackware 12. So far so good. It asks me for boot options, and I just hit enter. I log in and type cfdisk. Nothing. It can't find any hard disk... Not really being sure what to do I reset the virtual machine and when the boot prompt comes, I say scsi.s. Can't find it.
So, what am I doing wrong? Thank you.
If you try using an IDE in the VM instead of SCSI, do you get the same error?
What version of VMWare are you using?
I've used slackware in vmware server and scsi with no problems so I don't think that is a distribution problem. Anyway, try using IDE just to check if you still get the same error
Using SW 12 give me no problems, again, over the latest 1.x vmware server, I can't tell if the error is with the specific version of vmware you're using, however, if you want, you can use IDE and install using that.
If you provide more info about your version of vmware, you may get a better response about scsi problems, I only use vmware server so this is as long as I can go, but I'm sure that others members may have an answer regarding your version of vmware.
some distros have a problem with vmware's buslogic scsi v-controller. I usually switch it to lsi when creating the virtual machine, and everything works like a charm
