I have a motherboard with onboard sound chip C-Media CMI9739(A).
Default Slackware 13 installation ... no success with alsaconf, alsamixer, alsactl store, same for root and user.

You should not need snd-wavefront or snd-cs4232.

What is the output of "amixer scontents"?

Thanks for replay, what about these two modules ... should I stop them to loading on start up? Some kind of blacklist maybe ...

They don't hurt if you don't have the hardware, but why are they loaded?

Looks OK.
What audio jacks does your mainboard have?

Standard: Line in, Line out, Mic ... also there is PCI modem on mainboard

Maybe this can help ... I've tried with Slax because there I can get sound
