Boot Errors
 

Thank You guys for the first question
now i orginally had windows xp on this box on a seperate partition,
then i installed linux(duh)
i got slack working great and then i went back into windows
win worked fine
then i went back into slack
and all kind of bootup errors
some kind of read only shit
the one way i could get in was type
mount hd2 rw
and it scanned hard drive
or some kind of ======== shit
and said lilo was corrup or somthing
and i reinstalled it
and ever since then i have to do that same process
wtf is up?

wahh i know this happended becouse of windows..
but i seriously need a solution i use xp ALOT
and dont have the money to make another box

Unless you post the errors we can only guess what the problem might be.

well i fixed it by changing the partition from ext2 to resins(or somthing like that) now another problem has occoured, lilo says it cannot install becouse of returned error 102, and i know thats the only way to dualboot xp and slack.. so gdi!

boot you install by booting from slackware cd 1, when you get to the boot prompt type "linux root=/dev/hd#" where hd# is your root partition, log on as root and run lilo.

well i ran lilo from in kde it has a gui but i dont see a option for dualboot or anything simalier

The read-only and ====== you are seeing is your install attempting to recover itself with fsck -f. It is usually cause by segmentation of the filesystem. BAD THINGY... If your install for dual boot was not done properly the different OSs can 'bleed' across each other. From reading Win2K is the worst at doing this. There is a HOWTO for multi-boot installs and I suggest you give that and others a good read. If all else fails to your satisfaction maybe you should try zipslack and run it off your windows partition.
Also Slack is so streamlined and well made it runs quite well on what other people consider "throw-away" boxes.. Mine here is an ovrclocked P2 333@350 w/ 256mb pc100/ 3.5gb hd/ intel pro100/ ATI rage 3D agp/ on board sound OPLsa3... My cost $90.00 for refurb monitor and keyboard/mouse. The box itself was a corporate throwaway. It came from a dumpster.
