Asus P4P800 Deluxe, Slack 9.1, Serial-Ata

Ok, hereīs the problem I have WD raptor Serial-Ata drive and P4P800 Deluxe and Iīm installing slackware 9.1 and I ended up thinking.. "hey, what about that serial-ata support?". Im thinking of compiling 2.6 kernel after I have installed slackware, but to install slackware in the first place I need Serial-Ata support, so... quite a noodle-scratcher. Does anyone have a umm.. simple solution for this problem or..? Iīve read few threads here, but havenīt really gotten any help, so if someone has the same motherboard and serial-ata drive.. do you know how to install slackware on a harddrive that it canīt regonize. You can also email me if no-one bothers giving an answer here. Anyways.. thanks already.

What satacontroller is it on the motherboard. If it is promise, it is probably the 376... Same as I have... OK there is a driver available at www.promise.com (except they list the 376 as the TX4000) you will have to comile the driver though... If you like I could email you my compiled one.

Put it on a floppy

But anyway... Boot to bare.i
Code:
# mount /dev/fd0 /floppy //mounts your floppy so you can get at it.
# cd /floppy
# insmod ft3xx.o //Inserts the module and lets you see the SATA drives
# cfdisk /dev/sda //Start Partitioning
EDIT: IF you want the driver.o email me at ahalfake@css.edu

The P4P800 Deluxe uses the Intel ICH5R chip for SATA, and kernel 2.4.22 supports this chip.
