Adding curl support to standard 10.1 slack installation

Being an oldie to Unix and a newbie to Linux (Slackware), I'm trying to figure out how to add curl support to the pre-bundled PHP, would I need to recompile from source, if so how do I begin.

And hints would be appreciated.

On another note... after each stable slack release, are patches/fixes made available?

If so where do I find them and how do I make sure I don't mis any?

Thanks,
Marc

Hi ttxmika,
To recompile PHP from source you can get the source from PHP.net and compile it, or use the sources provided with Slackware and use the SlackBuild file provided for it. Here are the file you need: ftp://ftp.scarlet.be/pub/slackware/s.../source/n/php/
As you can see php.SlackBuild is a bash script that compiles PHP and makes a Slackware package from it. That's the file you need to edit to add curl support in the compile flags.
Remember that's not necessary to make a package from the programs, but I recommend it if you're not very experimented because the packages keeps a track of where are the files installed in case you want to uninstall.

Patches for stable releases are available, you can see them in the stable changelog: http://slackware.com/changelog/stable.php?cpu=i386
And get the patched packages from: ftp://ftp.scarlet.be/pub/slackware/s...-10.1/patches/
