2 Hard drive install?

Before I go and try to install this I would like to know this first:
I have two hard drives and I want Slackware on one without partitioning my main drive. Is this possible? If so is there a trick I need to go through first (I know I had a hell of a time trying to have Windows XP on one and Windows 98 on the other)?

/edit/
Aw man, I forgot the damn E at the end of my name... now I'm going to look retarded.

No sweat. You can install the distro to your second HD without affecting the first HD. Only thing you need to look into is which bootloader you're going to use. Searh the forum and you'll find a wealth of info on any possible combination of OSs

I'll be doing this soon. I have a 20GB drive with Windows 98 on it, and 4GB drive from an old PC that I want to run Linux from. I'm new to Linux so I'm not sure if I really understand how the partitioning works. I know I should have seperate partitions for boot, root, swap, and user, but how large should boot and root be?

My specs:
AMD K7 650MHz
192MB memory
crappy Diamond Stealth III video card
Soundblaster 128PCI
20GB WD drive + 4GB WD soon

I was thinking a 256MB swap and 32MB boot. I have no idea how large the others should be, but everything has to fit into 4GB with everything installed. I've never run two OS's on one machine, so this is all new territory to me. Suggestions?

Also, with the right bootloader I'll be able to boot one or the other at startup, right?

Thanks.

I didn't need seperate partitions for each of those. I just formatted my slave drive with Linux EXT2 and installed on that. For the bootloader, if you are using Slackware, it comes with Lilo and if you install it to the MBR then it will ask what you want to boot when you start your computer. That's just me though, and I probably screwed something up since this is my first time doing anything with Linux besides entering a few commands to play games ^^

The partitioning can usually be done by the distro itself (if you're using one of the 'easy' ones). You don't 'need' seperate partitions, but in the long run you'll probably appreciate having a seperate /home partition. Also swap should have a seperate partition (swap files windows style are possible but don't appear to be very recommendable, probably becauseof file cluttering?))

If you have two hard disks, this worked for me:

Well, I have everything installed, and LILO boots everything fine. I can't find any of the packages I selected though. I'm using Netscape because Mozilla isn't listed in the applications. I couldn't select GNOME as my X window manager either. Did I miss a step or something?

My mouse is acting weird. When I use a file manager, I can only scroll down. It works with everything else. I have a wheel mouse on PS/2.

Also, how can I change my video settings: resolution and backgroung pictures, etc.? My video card is a Diamond Stealth III S540, S3 Savage chipset.

Thanks for all the help.
