video sound on arm linux running xe303c12
 

Not sure if its solvable but I will have to ponder this as its the largest problem of mine now with my xe303c12 chromebook.

Problemw ould be scrambling sound with mplayer / youtubevideos / and ffmpeg i believe

So possibly recompiling these should be a step to take.

And it is only certain videos. But if they are seperated into just sound it works.

The most annoying thing is when ona site with video and it happens. So its not just youtube isolate.

I had trouble compiling mplayer but lets see how my confident goes and I get it. :)

1. Mplayer loves to be CPU optimized (yes try building it from SlackBuilds.org ?)
2. I'm not familiar with Your xe303c12, but sound modules can have tweaks (try # lsmod and # modinfo <sound module name>)
3. Playing a stream with lower resolution might help (I download with $ youtube-dl -f 18 then play locally on slower platforms)
4. Usually it's the combination of sound and video together spamming the (slow) framebuffer and sound module - try run it without sound and compare CPU load (gkrellm ;) )?
5. There are .asound.conf that can alleviate sound issues (down-sample, less resolution, disable re-sampling to/from 44100 (or 48000) (native sound HW bit-rate))

Usually checking all above would yield a solution?

I'm not too sure. Lets see if I can see an underrun at all somewhere maybe its acting like the raspberry pi when I had a setting on. But certainly it has to do with html5 and / or mplayer having some sort of setting that can be adjusted to perfection.

So far only found settings for alsa or pulseaudio that work for browsers?

not sure I understand but I have attempted to rid this crackling with changing some settings with pulse and getting rid of asound.conf. But theres things to consider or I'm just plain not getting it....

but it is only in firefox web browser, ffplay can play the videos I listed that youtube in web browser cant

and mplayer doesnt work actually so have to get to that if I want it.


I'm not too sure I think keeping record is still wise though.

Simply put:
while i had any issues with sound on Youtube, i found only /etc/asound.conf was able to cure any.

Each other "trick" i tried couldn't fix it on my Slackware system?

you know you may be on to something. But That's where my searches are kinda nill. especially its like too complicated. Like have epson scanner installed on arm architechture . Or porting something. It feels.

But my lack of effort maybe actually just getting mplayer properly set up so I should begin there in my tinker.

FWIW:
After wrestling to make an BT transmit to a remote speaker:
enable BT in SLackware (there be HOWTOS...)
plug USB BT dongle
have an DE running and connect to said remote BT
have it be "audio sink"
open(or better yet switch to an alrady opened one) pulse audio mixer and look up available outputs to Your running application (whichever) and select said BT audio sink
therefrom sound goes to the remote speaker

conclusion:
some final config is done on the mixer applet
why? I couldn't know :/
