Raspberry Pi Model B Audio from HDMI

I am trying to set-up audio from the HDMI port with little success. It worked once with:

Quote:
# modprobe snd_bcm2835
and the following ~/.asoundrc

Quote:
defaults.pcm.!card 0
defaults.pcm.!device 1
This is the device list:

Quote:
root@raspberrypi:~# modprobe snd_bcm2835
root@raspberrypi:~# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 0: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA]
Subdevices: 8/8
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Subdevice #1: subdevice #1
Subdevice #2: subdevice #2
Subdevice #3: subdevice #3
Subdevice #4: subdevice #4
Subdevice #5: subdevice #5
Subdevice #6: subdevice #6
Subdevice #7: subdevice #7
card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 1: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I also added this line to /boot/config.txt:

Quote:
root@raspberrypi:~# cat /boot/config.txt
# For information about this file, see http://elinux.org/RPi_config.txt
# rpi.fatdog.eu - 15 Sep 2014 - Raspberry Pi config.txt
gpu_mem=32
overscan_left=5
overscan_right=5
overscan_top=5
overscan_bottom=5
# https://www.raspberrypi.org/document...udio-config.md
hdmi_drive=2
The following ~/.asoundrc also did not help:

Quote:
defaults.pcm.!card 0
defaults.pcm.!device 1
defaults.pcm.!subdevice 0
Did anyone come up with a better set-up?

My Raspberry Pi runs on Slackware ARM 14.1, with a kernel from Fat Dog.

I upgraded alsa-utils with the package on -current, then

Quote:
amixer cset numid=3 2
and now I have audio from HDMI

Reference: https://www.raspberrypi.org/document...udio-config.md

The alsa-utils found in 14.1 has a bug.
