Followed instructions exactly but Raspberry Pi B+ won't boot

I followed the instructions at rpi.fatdog.eu but my Raspberry Pi B+ won't boot. I don't think its the SD card as I have been able to run openelc, raspbmc, and arch linux arm just fine. Running fdisk -l shows

Code:
Disk /dev/sdb: 15.7 GB, 15720251392 bytes
4 heads, 32 sectors/track, 239872 cylinders, total 30703616 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xf11c52c2

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 * 32 125055 62512 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
The contents in the SD card match that of the installer (the img.xz file or whatever). When I put the sd card into the Pi nothing happens.

Here is how I installed he installer to the sd card

Code:
xz -dc rpi-slackwarearm-install_30Mar15_fd.img.xz | dd of=/dev/sdb bs=65536
11+7774 records in
11+7774 records out
65536000 bytes (66 MB) copied, 5.31913 s, 12.3 MB/s
EDIT: Some more info

Turns out the TV's HDMI wasn't detecting the Pi for some reason (has been working fine for over 4 months). I plugged it into a monitor with HDMI and it works fine...hopefully it will work again on the TV.

Have a look at the video mode options here: http://elinux.org/RPiconfig. I had an older HDMI TV that required adding "config_hdmi_boost=4" to /boot/config.txt for it to work.

Use hdmi_group & hdmi_mode to set a supported video mode.

Yeah I looked into some force options but it didnt work. the TV just stopped reading HDMI sources entirely, I had to do a hard boot to it (unplug power cord) and now it works thank god.
