i also had a problem similar, i fixed it.. but the only resolution i can get within X is 320x200, 140hz. my lcd monitor is 60-70hz, im not sure what to do

where do i put that ? in the monitor or screen section?

jeebiz: the monitor section.

initial: I had your problem with my laptop. I solved it by accident by using a horiz refresh rate range of 30 - 67.7 khz. If this doesn't work for you try the modeline method [see cedrics solution] or other refresh rates. Share any solutions you find with us.

edit: my laptop is a hp omnibook xe3L (added for searches)

ok i added that piece of code to the xorg.conf file in the monitor section, and restarted, only to get a fatal server error! so what now!? :-(

same 320x200 res when i use horz range 30-67.7 , i used vert. of 55-76 with it.. what vert were/are u using?
