'xterm': unknow terminal type


hi there,

I have a problem to run pico command. When I type " pico " at the command line , i see this error message. " xterm', unknow terminal type" . How can i fix this?

As root, add the following to /etc/profile:

Code:
TERM=vt100
export $TERM
The change will take effect the next time you login. To apply it to your current session:

source /etc/profile

As posted before vt100 will almost always work.
whats your 'env' output??
