[SOLVED] xterm delayed input from keyboard

I have Slackware64 13.37 running on a Lenovo Y430 latop which has intel video card. For some reason when I launch an xterm there is a significant delay in the input from my keyboard to show in the xterm, maybe 20 seconds or more. When I launch Xfce Terminal there is no delay on the input. Any ideas of where I could diagnose what the issue is?

I had a similar problem about a year ago with a Thinkpad with Intel graphics. It turned out that Xorg's Composite extension was causing my terminal (and a couple of other windows) to draw very slowly. Try adding this to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

I don't know what ramifications this has for Compiz or other compositing window managers. I'd imagine it breaks them.

Thanks for the suggestion CTM but that didn't work for me. Anyway an upgrade to current fixed the issue. Marking as solved.
