xrandr rotate error

I decided to try hooking up a second monitor I had lying around, but rotated in portrait mode. It seems with Slackware 13.37 there's this bug which stops it from working:

http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/5427/

The current version of X Server is 1.9.5, release date '2011-03-17', this bug was fixed '2011-05-11'.

I guess the question is - does anyone know if the xorg package will be updated any time soon to fix this bug, or will I have to compile the X server myself?

There is a lot more to compile than just the X server for that update.

X has a new ABI version that requires a driver recompile as a minimum.
