xorg starts then crashes on restart


I have:

integrated ATI Radeon HD3300 GPU
2.6.28.9-smp #1 SMP
i686 AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor
Slackware 12.2

The fglrx module is loaded and everything works fine KDE starts fine, catalyst works, glxgears showing a solid 1000 fps.

I run into the issue when Xorg needs to be re-started. It just freezes. I have to restart the comp to fix this issue. Has anyone else had this issue or am I the only one with this problem?

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

My Xorg log does not offer any clues

I'm stabbing in the dark, but I had issues like this when I used a frame buffer. You may try altering your frame buffer in lilo and also try adjusting your shared memory for your video card in BIOS.

You may want to recompile your kernel(is it the one from current or did you build your own?) to support your large amount of memory, ie HIGHMEM. From what I have googled, it appears to be your framebuffer and use of a non-PAE built kernel.
