No, with xf86-video-intel-20150822_a6317fc-x86_64-3dri.txz

I was still doing sync with current repository.

I have reported it if you were still doing tests.

Now, I'm using official package.

there's no need to do separate tests with the latest xf86-video-intel updates, as the official package now in current is built with that configure option too (and includes dri3info).

Hi !

I'm currently using xf86-video-intel-git_20150824_3e07681-x86_64-1 on a remote machine and its X server crashes when I try to open a session through tigervnc-1.5.0-x86_64-2alien (i.e. the VNC client connects just fine, I see the session manager, I enter the login/password, but it stops working right before I can see the session start)

/var/log/Xorg.0.log says this :

To solve this, I switched to UXA and it works.

I'd like to know if it's somehow related to the former problem, and / or if I'm trapped with UXA acceleration forever on this machine :-D

btw, this is the VGA controller :

... and this is the CPU :

Does that help ?

Hi KewlCat, welcome to LQ.

maybe you are better off asking this question to the xf86-video-intel developers...

Not a dev for xf86-video-intel, but I wonder if the xserver stuff built for tigervnc needs patching. I will spend some time looking at this tonight and also over this weekend.

EDIT: A possible cause for the tigervnc crash is that the xserver versions (system and vnc) don't match.
EDIT2: I don't hold high expectation that this is the issue.
EDIT3: xserver version is unrelated. Alien Bob's tigervnc runs fine here on current using nouveau.

I had thought that there might be some connection between recent fixes for the xf86-video-intel driver and the fact that tigervnc build uses xorg sources, that there might be connection with the intel issue. I haven't been able to make a correlation, and since the xorg source used is only the xserver source and not the driver, I think this was a blind alley.

Maybe this is useful....
I have just installed x86_64 current on a Dell M3800. It has an Intel chipset but also uses the Nvidia "Optimus" technology. I get this crash and output, but only after restarting X. That is, I boot up fine and can startx no problem. If I then log out of X, and try to startx again, this happens *but not all the time*. Sometimes X will start fine again.

I can provide more output from the logs etc if anyone is interested. I think a few things need ironing out in my system, and I also attempted in install the nvidia proprietary driver before fully understanding the Optimus technology (and added complication). I have disabled the offending nvidia drivers and they no longer appear in the logs.

Unhappy With xf86-video-intel-git_20150915_23986f0-x86_64-1 and mesa-11.0.2-x86_64-1, I have to disable DRI.

I have an Intel i915 card. With the recent "Second Plasma 5 update for September," which has versions
xf86-video-intel-git_20150915_23986f0-x86_64-1
and
mesa-11.0.2-x86_64-1,
I've had to disable DRI in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
Code:
Section Device
Identifier Intel Graphics
Driver intel
Option DRI False
EndSection
Otherwise, startx hangs on a black screen.

Ponce's xf86-video-intel-20150822_a6317fc-x86_64-2.txz and mesa-10.6.4-x86_64-1ponce.txz worked for me previously.

Now, with DRI disabled, my graphics and desktop effects are quite slow.

What are the errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Can't really help unless we know what's wrong.

Also, when trying to find problems in -current, it is best to report them using software in -current. KDE5 is a separate update that Eric puts out, but he prefers bug reports for that on his blog. Does the same thing happen when using a different WM/DE?
