xorg on Dell 6000 with 915GM "could not open default font 'fixed'"
Hi all,
I'm having a heap of trouble with a Dell 6000 laptop I recently acquired (typical of my experience with Dell laptops, actually).
I'm having trouble getting X to use my display. First, the Xorg.0.log:

I have tried fiddling with the device driver (using i810 and vesa) to no avail. At the same time, I have a copy of SLAX 6.0.9 that autoconfigures X wonderfully . . . I've tried copying over the xorg.conf, but no dice. Am I missing something painfully obvious?
I gather that there are a lot of issues with this particular laptop, but I haven't been able to find any solid footholds on fixing it. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance,
Eupator
