xorg + gnome 2.6

I am using slackware-current,when I update xfree86 to xorg,my gnome 2.6 doesn't work correct under normal user(root is ok),xfree86+gnome 2.6 is ok.

when I startx,gnome 2.6 display a dialog:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
then gnome 2.6 work, but it has no workspace on the bottom panel.

if I login as root, all is ok.

Does someone know this problem?

can you copy the root profile to your home directory?? that could fix it. (course you'll prolly have to sort out your settings again after that), or some file doesn't have the right permissions on your system ... unlikely but possible.
